I have a cybersecurity tip for you. Electronic phishing messages are those that try to trick you into an action by sounding urgent. They often use tactics to scare or excite you, so you’ll react quickly without thinking. Many phishing messages claim you’ve won a prize, owe taxes, have unusual activity on your bank or streaming account, or missed a delivery. Their goal is to get you to click a link, open an attachment, or give away personal information. To protect yourself, never click links or download attachments from unexpected messages. Instead, go directly to the official website by typing it into your browser. If an email comes from a friend, colleague, or business but seems strange, contact them directly to check if it’s real. On a computer, you can hover over links to see the real web address – if it looks odd, delete the message. Phishing relies on panic, so stay calm, double-check, and don’t rush.
