American artist Tina Schmidt shares her four near-death experiences (NDEs) and her supernatural encounters with Lord Jesus (vegetarian)

Tina’s first NDE was in 1966 when she was 5 years old. Tina fell on a garden brick, fracturing her skull and causing bleeding. She failed brain reflex tests, and surgeons drilled into her skull to relieve swelling.

During this time, Tina floated from her body like a helium balloon, seeing herself from above and below the hospital bed, then was swept into a murky, gray realm. There, a massive creature of worm-like spirits radiated terror. A protective presence, possibly an angel or Lord Jesus, shielded her and pointed to glowing lights on Earth, which she realized were people. Meanwhile, her mother prayed and saw a vision of Tina sitting up alive in a hospital bed. Tina awoke exactly as shown, scarred and shaved. The injury left her spiritually exposed, troubled for years.

Tina had her second near-death experience at age 17 when, living alone, she contracted pneumonia. One night, she was left immobilized and suffocated face-down on her pillow. Tina heard a drumbeat-like sound—her slowing heart. She felt excruciating pressure, like her body was crushed into a golf ball, then popped out through the back of her head. Floating above, she screamed, trying to reenter with invisible limbs.

Dragged like a ribbon into a decaying, gray part of hell, Tina smelled a foul stench and heard dreadful sounds. Entities approached, one clawing at her, and Tina screamed as if for eternity. Then she suddenly streamed back into her body, like liquid filling a jar, her heart restarting. Though she sought hospital care, her church dismissed the event as “demonic,” pushing her to explore other faiths while deepening her trust in Lord Jesus.

In 1985, Tina’s 31-year-old brother fell into a coma from an allergic reaction to medication. An angel told her the exact date he would die. The night before, Tina, guided by the Holy Spirit, ministered to him about God’s Love, and his heart rate dropped from 170 to 70. He died the next day as foretold.

Exhausted, Tina fell asleep and was lifted through a wind tunnel to Heaven. She embraced her healed, joyful brother in green pastures, joined by family members, both living and deceased. An angel or Lord Jesus returned Tina to Earth, where her worldly identity returned.

Tina’s third NDE was at age 24 when she went into anaphylactic shock from medication— the same one that killed her brother. Her body swelled, heart racing at 150, and she shot out of her chest into a gray realm. A Grim Reaper-like figure seized her, but she saw a veil from Lord Jesus protecting her arm. Invoking Lord Jesus’s name, she commanded the demon to release her, and it shrank away. She was shoved back into her body, woke her husband, and went to the hospital. There she saw her deceased brother in a flash, and an angel said: “Allergy.” She told doctors, who stopped the drug cefamandole. This weakened her immune system, later leading to a cancer diagnosis. Yet during surgery, the cancer was gone, despite prior biopsies and scans. Four days later she returned to work.

In 2015, amid loss and illness, Tina was taken to Heaven. She saw Lord Jesus on a throne of clouds, radiating thousands of colors. His robe was alive, His face brighter than the Sun, with a crown of golden Light echoing “more, more, more.” A rainbow arched above Him as waves of love and joy poured over her, saturating every cell of her body, soul, and spirit. Earthly cares dissolved, and the power of this encounter continued sustaining her long afterward.

Lord Jesus began appearing to Tina inside in various forms— warrior, friend, brother— teaching her to know Him by spirit, not appearance. He showed His scars from the crucifixion, proving He was her hero and breaking false beliefs of her sickness and failure.

In 2019, Tina had her fourth NDE when migraine medication damaged her brain and spine. She suffered convulsions, terror, and could barely breathe. After returning from the hospital, she refused further drugs and hid them. Unable to walk or eat, she fell to 93 pounds [42 kilograms], but sustained herself with prayer and scripture.

During this trial, Lord Jesus appeared, speaking tender words. Once, after her fervent prayers, her husband’s throat swelling was healed. Another time, in a profound vision, God opened her soul like a book, revealing every moment of her life in seconds, overwhelming her with His Holiness. She wept for days. Through worship and clinging to Lord Jesus, Tina overcame her migraines completely.

In 2020, Tina painted “Jesus in Living Color,” based on a classic portrait but infused with radiant colors reflecting how she saw Him in Heaven. It marked both her healing and Christ’s promise of eternal salvation for all who believe in, obey, and follow Him (Randy Kay)
